Eating Disorder
The latest Eating Disorder research indicates that more than 10 million people suffer from anorexia and bulimia.

The person suffering a eating disorder such as anorexia is generally extremely sensitive about being fat, or has an intense fear of becoming fat, and of losing control over the amount of food he/she eats.
Low self-esteem and the constant need for acceptance leads to obsessive dieting and starvation as a way to control not only weight, but also feelings and actions regarding their emotions.
Starvation or restriction, obsessive exercise, calorie counting, a constant obsession with food and health issues, self-induced vomiting, the use of excessive amounts of laxative, diuretics, and/or diet pills, and a persistent concern with body image can all be some of the physical indications that someone suffers from anorexia nervosa. People suffering with anorexia may also go through periods of bulimia (binging and purging) as well.
A recent study indicates that women who have suffered from anorexia run a lower risk of developing breast cancer, suggesting that calorie intake early in life may play a significant role in development of the disease.
Researchers warn that anorexia is a serious mental disorder with sometimes life-threatening complications and that girls and women should not start starving themselves to avoid breast cancer. Instead, they said the findings are important because they could shed light on how breast cancer develops.
In the study, young women hospitalized for anorexia were found to be about half as likely to develop breast cancer as women overall.
